Route 66 Marine Taps into Australian, Indonesian Treasures

Route 66 MarineI’m always bugging my Local Fish Store (LFS) on Mondays and Tuesdays because I know that’s when he’s getting all the wholesaler’s stocking lists. When I called him this week, he mentioned he was setting up an account and looking to make an order from Route 66 Marine, a new wholesaler on the market.

Route 66 Marine looks to bring quality livestock to the LFS mainly concentrating on Australia and Indonesia–two great areas to focus on for sure!

Many reefers are familiar with Fragfarmer and its founders Eric and Colleen Caamano who have sadly had to part ways with that venture  to focus on Route 66 Marine. Route 66’s goal is  to help build a stronger bond with the LFS, in turn bringing quality and unique livestock to the local market for all reefers to enjoy.

I was doing a big of research on Route 66 and came across this interesting post on Glass Box Designs that helped steer me in the direction of the company’s web site. Here is the description and mission of the company:

Route 66 Marine is located in Los Angeles, California. We are a wholesale company who exclusively import coral from Australia and Indonesia only. Our focus on these two regions assures our customers of high quality livestock. Our network of suppliers allow us to consistently bring in some of the best corals every week.

Route 66 Marine is not as big in size as some of the bigger companies in the Industry, but we feel this has many benefits for our customers. We decided early on that we would focus on a small amount of quality customers who owned brick and mortar stores instead of the “Everybody and Anybody” approach. Although we feel that most Internet Companies are great people, it does not compare to the investment both financially and emotionally that physical store owners have at stake.

Route 66 Marine wants to stand side by side with Local Fish Stores who are cornerstones in their communities and help them succeed in their exciting venture, then both of us can smile at the end of the day and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the company carries and provides for the LFS. I’m sure the quality will be outstanding and may be a good way to line up some interesting Australian corals that have been catching my eye lately.
