Another great vendor I was able to spend some time with at IMAC West was Piscine Energetics makers of a great product PE Mysis. Since the show, I’ve also heard a few great chats on the great product on Blue Zoo Radio with host Frank Reece and PE’s Nuri Fisher and the story behind this great food for your reef critters is just a fantastic as the product. I ended up leaving the show with four packs of PE Mysis and so far, they are a hit.

I saw these around the time I was switching my blog over and was going to post on them then but it got pushed to the back-back burner but thanks to a recent post by artist John Stires reminded me. Are you looking for something cool to add to your fishroom, apartment, office or house? John has some of his great artwork now avaialble as wall stickers.
I found this interesting article on the New Scientist on how fish deep reef fish can see each other in the absence of red light. Seems there is flourescing of red colors well below the depth where red lightwaves are absorbed. Take a look at the article and enjoy the video!

Hi my name is Brian and I’m an addict. I’m addicted to Pseudocheilinus hexataenia and will do whatever I can to get one to survive. Yes my obsession with the P. hexataenia, commonly referred to as the sixline wrasse, is a bit nutty but I have had the damnedest luck trying to get one of these magnificent fish to survive. I am now on my fifth and hopefully final one that I picked up in Oakland on my way home today.

This can definitely be filed under news of the weird. Seems a pet store in Philadelphia got quite a shock Tuesday, when opening a shipment of tropical fish Pets Plus owner Mark Arabia discovered he was sent a corpse instead!
Seems the Philly LFS was accidentally sent the body of a 675-year-old San Diego man who had dies of early onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. The body was intended to go to a laboratory in Allentown for medical research.
According to a statement made bu US Airways, the problem was caused by a “verbal miscommunication between the delivery driver and the cargo representative” adding they were deeply sorry for the error.
As I was wondering, and proves you are a geeky blue-collar reefer, Arabia believes his fish died in the mixup. Just glad it wasn’t my LFS and my order!
